6 Days in Tenerife, Canarias
For my latest adventure, I traveled to Tenerife, a sun-drenched island in Spain's Canary Islands. Tenerife's blend of dramatic landscapes, pristine beaches, and vibrant culture provided the perfect getaway. I explored the famous cliffs of Los Gigantes, a sight to behold with their sheer rock faces plunging into the ocean. Playa Las Americas offered a lively beach scene with water sports and nightlife, while Playa del Duque and Playa Abama delivered a more luxurious, tranquil experience with golden sands and crystal-clear waters. Both beaches are perfect for lounging and unwinding.

During my stay, I was privileged to explore the natural beauty of El Teide National Park, home to Mount Teide, Spain’s highest peak. The park’s otherworldly volcanic landscapes are ideal for hiking and stargazing. Other notable points of interest include the historic city of La Laguna, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its colorful colonial architecture, and the Auditorio de Tenerife in Santa Cruz, a stunning piece of modern architecture that hosts world-class performances.

I stayed at two remarkable hotels. The Bahia del Duque, with its colonial-style buildings and lush gardens, felt like a tranquil oasis. Its expansive grounds, spa, and multiple pools made it a great spot for relaxation. The Ritz-Carlton Abama, situated on the Guía de Isora coast, offers a more modern luxury experience. Its Moorish-inspired architecture, Michelin-starred dining options, and a secluded beach made it a highlight of my trip.
Tenerife’s local cuisine added another layer to the experience. I indulged in fresh seafood and "papas arrugadas," the island’s famous wrinkled potatoes, often paired with spicy mojo sauces. At both hotels, the restaurants showcased a fusion of local flavors and international dishes, making dining a memorable aspect of the journey.
Overall, Tenerife is a destination with a little something for everyone—whether you're looking for adventure, relaxation, or culture. Each corner of the island holds a new discovery, and I can’t wait to return.
